Job Description:
Looking for experienced GIS Analysts that understand the geospatial domain and are motivated to combine their knowledge and experience in building next generation geospatial applications and services.
Experience
5+ years hands-on experience building JavaScript applications
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS or related disciplines (Geography, GIS, Cartography, Forestry, etc)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related disciplines (BCA, MCA, Computer Science/Studies, Software Engineering)
Requirements
The right candidate for a GIS Analyst position at 6Simplex must have
- Solid knowledge of computer based technologies, basic Geography and Cartography
- Strong conceptual foundation in GIS and analytical techniques, including computerized mapping and digital data conversion, manipulation and analysis.
- Strong relational and GIS database design, administration and management principles, methods and techniques, including quality control methods and practices.
- Understanding of principles and practices of GIS analysis and design.
- Ability to identify users’ GIS requirements, technical issues and training needs, to analyze current business processes and recommends best practice solutions
- Knowledge and experience of GIS tools and applications such as ArcGIS (all products), QGIS, and GeoServer and willingness to learn new GIS tools and applications
- Knowledge of hardware and software applications development methods, tools and utilities applicable to the GIS system.
- Understanding of and/or willing to learn math and statistical analysis
- A preference for a positive and healthy work environment
- The ability to think and solve problems
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and verbal skills in Hindi
- Be able to create well-written and detailed reports and solve GIS related technical problems
- Ability to explain things to technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities
At 6Simplex, a GIS Analyst will be responsible for
- Planning, organizing, integrating, monitoring, and maintaining ArcGIS or open source GIS setups and its related applications to 6Simplex project and customer service objectives
- Understanding, analyzing and defining customer’s GIS requirements and working with the rest of the team to recommend GIS systems solutions.
- Designing and creating geodatabases in ArcGIS and Open Source GIS platforms
- Analyzing customer’s complex GIS related problems, evaluating alternatives and recommending solutions within established guidelines.
- Performing complex cadastral and GIS data maintenance, manipulation, analysis, extraction and generation assignments;
- Performing GIS data research based on guidelines provided
- Preparing, planning, maintaining and updating a variety of maps, diagrams and other graphic representations displaying layers and attribute data from databases, using cartographic techniques to represent spatial data;
- Developing and maintains data layers, using GIS tools, and relational databases
- Performing detailed spatial analysis of data as and when required
- Participating in software selection and implementation teams, including software evaluation, requirements gathering, workflow analysis and system implementation, testing and training.
- Designing, implementing, and testing configuration changes in ArcGIS and open source GIS systems as per business requirements
- Analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving GIS applications problems; communicating with internal and external technical resources to resolve end user issues; providing guidance to users on methods for correcting reported problems.
