    Revelo

Revelo, the Spatial Decision Support System, is a proprietary software product developed by the Nagpur based 6Simplex Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd. It was designed and developed completely at the Nagpur, Maharashtra development center of 6Simplex, by software developers and engineers native to the state of Maharashtra. It will continue to be maintained and further developed by the team at Nagpur.

    Silent Features of Revelo
    1. It is a web based software platform that provides a suite of software applications for domain definition, geospatial and non-geospatial data management, data collection, analysis, visualization and their secure distribution among the stakeholders.
    2. It enables decision makers to make use of the location element in their business data to make more informed and accurate decisions about their day to day business operations as well as long term business strategies. Revelo provides a holistic and business oriented view of data and includes intelligent tools to define their business domain, plan and closely monitor data acquisition and then subsequent use of that data for decision making from a business domain perspective rather than from a technical perspective.
    3. It helps statewide organizations map and manage information related to their substantial and geographically diverse Assets in near real time, thereby providing robust control to the organization’s management over the administration, operational costs and decision making.
    4. Via various user friendly configuration options for data collection, analysis and visualization, it provides powerful change management capabilities to
      1. Meet the organization’s administrative and data management requirements, and update them to evolve with the times, as often as necessary
      2. Meet the organization’s changing data collection, analysis and visualization needs continuously, given the various environmental challenges, without having to depend on a technical team or the 6Simplex development team.
    5. Its web services based architecture allows smooth integration with other software currently in use at the organization, thereby enhancing collaboration and cooperation within their various departments.

    Why is it needed?

In order to collect data and then be able to use it fruitfully for decision making, an organization must know what data they already have and what data to collect, in the context of their business domain. Prior to this, they must have a clear definition of that business domain. When artifacts such as the business domain definition, the data they already have and understanding of data they need are all in place, a clear picture of the real data needs and gaps that exist in those data emerges, and that too in context of their business domain. Based on these determinations, the organization can then plan and acquire more data, if needed, and use all of those data meaningfully.

There are many web and mobile apps in the market that let you collect data and view them, but none that help you plan, acquire and use data in the context of your business domain.

This is where Revelo comes in.Revelo provides cloud based visual tools to

    • Define an organization’s domain,
    • View and integrate the spatial and non-spatial data they already have from all disparate data sources, within and outside the organization,
    • Understand what data they really need to fulfill business goals,
    • Collect the required data from the field via field surveys,
    • Visualize and analyze the data they have collected for decision making

thereby providing a platform for managing the entire data lifecycle of planning, acquisition, use (analysis, visualization, reporting).

    Benefits Of Revelo

Data Collection and Analytics driven by domain model

Revelo helps organizations define their domain model, understand what data they already have from the domain model’s perspective and then plan acquisition of the data they don’t currently have. This helps build a bird’s eye view of the state of data in the entire organization and evaluate their data needs with this high level reality in mind.

    Dealing with change

In addition to managing the data lifecycle, Revelo also provides intelligent mechanisms to deal with inevitable changes that happen to the business domain. As and when the domain evolves over time, Revelo adjusts itself to those changes and helps the organization maintain their data lifecycle in sync with the real world, without requiring any extra software development effort.

    Easy personnel management

Revelo provides a process driven workflow for the complex and iterative process of data collection related work assignment, actual field data collection, data management, and subsequent data archival. This includes assigning tasks based on the geography of the survey area and easy transfer of tasks from one surveyor to another

This is especially useful in scenarios where there is considerable churn in data collector personnel ranks. Standards based web and mobile security ensures that only authorized personnel collect and access just the right amount of data.

Data Collection brings in higher quality data

The business domain model defined earlier in the data management lifecycle trickles down to Revelo’s downstream components such as web and mobile applications and drives the data collection effort, thereby ensuring that basic data validation rules are baked into the platform and yet remain configurable at any time. This saves time and effort during manual data validation.

Other features such as automatic data validation, data domains, geofences, task delegation and control, etc for surveys help prevent fraud and allow for quick completion of surveys. Revelo also monitors high level state of the survey, thereby providing a quick overview of Survey status, in terms of cost, schedule, and overall progress. The data integrity remains intact and web based validation/editing tools provide means to weed out avoidable mistakes as well as unintended errors in the data, even when field surveys are ongoing.

    Reduced time, manpower and cost

The automatically higher quality data thus collected reduces time and effort required to validate the data manually and also helps reduce back office activities of cleansing the data collected so far. These together bring down data acquisition costs. Couple this with the change management capability of Revelo, and the user has a powerful tool to make critical decisions faster.

    Real-time Analytics

As the data is collected in online or offline mode and uploaded, Revelo’s real time analytics engine builds up a realistic picture of the state of the Survey, in form of charts, graphs etc, and also allows Survey owners to start asking questions to the data for Report generation and making decisions.

Interoperability between Open Source and commercial GIS platforms

GIS users demand user friendly, scalable yet economical solutions. Keeping this in mind, Revelo’s open source mobile application is capable of interacting with commercial GIS platforms such as Esri’s ArcGIS, thereby providing users an option to leverage the commercial platforms, save on licensing fees and still take advantage of their investment in those platforms.

So, Revelo provides users a choice between ArcGIS Server/ArcGIS mobile and ArcGIS Server/Open source mobile combinations.
